PERSONAL BIO

Nicholas Pandelena’s golf career started by playing in US Kids Golf events at the ripe age of 8. Like all junior golfers Nicholas struggled at first, but quickly showed flashes of brilliance and a work ethic that was undeniable. He played in several US Kids World Championships and finished second in the US Kids European Championship; held in Scotland.

His junior career flourished playing in United States Challenge Cup events, where he received tremendous support from Dave Adamonis, the Challenge Cups director.  Dave’s guidance and mentoring continues today and he will surely continue to help shape Nick’s professional career.

Nicholas went on to St. Johns Prep High School and played Baseball, Hockey and Golf. He helped lead the Golf team to the D1 State Championship in 2011.  He won the individual D1 State Championship in his senior year. Nicholas had scholarship offers in both Hockey and Golf at the D1 collegiate level and chose to go to Boston College with intentions of playing both; however, it was clear early on that his passion for golf would drive his collegiate sports career. Nicholas graduated with his degree in Economics.

Nicholas played golf for Boston College for all four years and was proud to be the Captain in his senior year. He set school records for rounds under par, and lowest scoring average. He won the Blue Devil Invitation in 2015.

Nicholas turned Pro in the summer of 2016 and played the New England Pro circuit. He won the Boston Open, and he finished second in the Maine Open and the Gately Cup. In January of 2017, Nicholas earned his way onto the PGA Latin America and will be playing their events as well as attending Web.com Q school in the fall of 2017. His eyes are firmly locked on the PGA.

PERSONAL INFLUENCES

There have been so many people who have had a profound effect on Nicholas’s career and on his life.

Nicholas met Mark Spencer at the age of 8 and he has been his primary swing coach for 15 years. Mark has taken Nicholas from a player who relied on athleticism to a player who is technically solid and who has a swing made for the pro game. Mark has shaped Nicholas mentally as well as physically and he has been there for him no matter where Nick may have been playing.

The Atkinson country Club has been Nick’s second home and they have given him the run of a fantastic golf course with a state of the art training academy. Nicholas has had access to state of the art video studio’s and diagnostic training equipment and he has spent countless hours working in their studio’s. The course Pro’s Pete Doherty and Matt Prior have given tremendous support and help and Nicholas will forever be grateful for all their support.

Nicholas came into his own as a young man during his years at St. Johns Prep. He grew and flourished under the watchful eyes of Rob Marinelli. From day one, Mr. Marinelli was like a father to Nicholas. Mr. Marinelli’s experience as a past coach on both the Hockey and Golf teams provide a natural connection which became the foundation of their friendship. Mr. Marinelli remains a mentor and will be a friend for life.

Last, but by far, not the least, is the support Nicholas has had from his family. Nicks parents have supported him and have attended and caddied many events over the years. He and his father spent many nights, under the dim lights of a car practicing on putting greens at events, and countless hours watching range sessions and lessons. His Mom has been his go to person when he needed to relax during events. She never got caught up in the moments and was able to keep him loose and focused. Nicholas has one sister, who has been his biggest fan no matter what the sport was he was playing. She spent countless hours at hockey rinks and attended many of his ACC golf events and I am quite sure she will continue to be a constant during his Professional career. Nicholas is fortunate to have grandparents that have always been his most steadfast fans. His grandfather, Michael Pandelena, had a close bond with Nick and even today, Nicholas will identify his ball with his Grandfathers initials MP aside of his Titleist logo.

FUTURE PLANS

Nicholas has moved to Port St. Lucie Florida to allow for year round play and development. He has been playing in Florida Golf mini tour events and he has just advanced through Q-School for Latin America PGA. He will play the Latin events until the summer time. At that time, he will try to get into Web.com and PGA events via Monday Morning qualifiers. In the early Fall, Nicholas will attenwWeb.com Q-School in hopes of getting status on the Web.com tour. He continues to hone his swing with the assistance of Mark Spencer and he has added input from Wayne Difrancesco and short game assistance from James Siekman. A concerted commitment has been made to improve his impressive body. At 6’5” and 230 lbs, Nicholas has God given size and length and is now training to maximize his game and improve his flexibility. The next focus will be in the area of nutrition and to be able to find a caddy that he can grow with and consistently compete with.
